Waste Treatment & Biogas

Heavy Metal Remediation, Effluent Treatment & Biogas Optimization

Cost-Effective Industrial Effluent & Heavy Metal Removal

Industrial wastewater from electroplating, chemical manufacturing, mining, and tanning contains hazardous concentrations of heavy metal ions including Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu), and Zinc (Zn).

Ion exchange using natural Clinoptilolite is the most attractive, simple, and economical technique to extract these toxic ions down to compliant discharge levels without creating bulky hazardous chemical sludge.

  • Reduces capital equipment expenditure and chemical operating costs.
  • Significantly reduces Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD).
  • Captures ammonium and eliminates foul sulfurous gases and mercaptans.
  • Highly resistant to mechanical attrition and temperature fluctuations.

Biogas Plants Optimization

High concentrations of ammonia in livestock manure feedstock frequently inhibit methanogenic bacteria, causing anaerobic digester failure.

Adding 5% to 10% clinoptilolite balances free ammonia concentrations, provides colonizing matrix for anaerobic bacteria, and purifies biogas by simultaneously removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) for higher methane yields.

Radioactive Waste Containment

Clinoptilolite pore dimensions closely match the hydrated ionic radius of radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs) and Strontium-90 (Sr).

Clinoptilolite was extensively used at Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear disasters to encapsulate and immobilize hazardous radioactive isotopes within its crystal framework for secure permanent disposal.
